I seriously doubt that I would fit the expected demographic for purchasers of this book. I am 68 years of age and have been nearly bed-ridden for the past 20 years with a failed spine which only allows me to be vertical for about 15 minutes at a time before the pain becomes unbearable. But my mind is still fine (despite what my wife posts on Face Tube) and in an attempt to keep it active, I purchased a number of math texts.To date this is the best of the bunch. The author builds a solid knowledge of the subject, one easily digestable bit at a time. At each step along the path, she includes a set of problems which reinforce your understanding of that particular concept. I can't say that this book would replace a teacher and a class room, but if the reader is truely after a working knowledge of the subject of Algebra, they can get it from this book. I'm looking forward to Book II. This book has allowed me to go back and restart my brain on things that I forgot, and even things that were not taught when I was in school. I am using it to help me prepare to pass the entrance exam for college, but I also have it in order to be able to help others who may need a refresher or wish to prepare for an exam as well. It starts at the basics, if you feel this is too easy or beneath your level, just skip to where you feel you are having a problem. I just like to start from the beginning and work my way up.
